Eben Ezer is a comprehensive care center that offers a wide range of services including assisted living, nursing, rehabilitation, and memory care. In order to aid therapeutic programs and enhance the experience of patients and residents, Didier Design Studio created two distinct courtyard spaces that each serve different needs. The west courtyard offers a safe, enclosed garden space for patients with Alzheimer’s and dementia. A figure eight walking loop provides a place to exercise while maintaining clear visibility and orientation. Water, shade, and planting enhance the courtyard as an inviting space to relax, socialize, or enjoy the fresh air and sunlight. The east courtyard offers a more expansive space with opportunities for exercise, social events, gardening activities, and a greater sense of immersion within a natural setting. The garden’s plant palette celebrates the changing seasons, embedding a sense of wonder and delight within the space.
