The Garden of Light and Shadows stages a series of evolving events built around sunlight and shade. Designed for a private residence on the island of Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean, the landscape forms a series of garden rooms to serve as temporal destinations based on time of day. Social moments progress from open, expansive areas celebrating morning sunlight, to intimate shaded areas providing respite from the mid-day sun. The garden becomes animated throughout the days and seasons with screens, walls, and reflective pools designed according to the sun’s path, allowing shadows and reflections to emerge and dissipate.
